Past Project - Eastman / Higgins "Bears" Partnership

This page has information about a project in which past students of Mrs. Bowden participated.  The Bears' Cluster of the Higgins Middle School and Eastman Gelatine Corporation of Peabody have formed a partnership.  The Eastman engineers, scientists and technicians and the students of the Bears worked together the past three years to make discoveries through math.  SEE PHOTOS BELOW!

The first phase:  Students researched the history of Eastman Gelatine and Kodak by using the internet.

The second phase:  Engineers visited the classroom to explain their jobs and the historical connection of George Eastman and Peabody.  They discussed the photographic process and what is made at the facility in Peabody.

The third phase:  Engineers challenged students to solve real problems for Eastman Gelatine.  Students worked in groups and with their Eastman mentor to develop solutions.  They then put their solution in a presentable format that effectively displayed and explained their solution.

The fourth phase:  Students presented their problems back to the engineers and other staff of Eastman Gelatine.  This was also a time of celebration for a job well done.
